Giving Back

Our founder Deb lost her battle with brain cancer in late August 2017. She was one of the most upbeat, positive people you would ever meet. She always saw the good side in everyone and this was one of the main reasons she was such a great teacher and mentor. She was a fantastic mom, a wonderful grandma, and she loved to sew those mittens! The Mitten Company almost folded, but through positive encouragement from our customers, there was enough demand to stay in business.

Running in memory of Deb Rummel

Dedicated to improving, extending, and saving lives.

Deb remains the driving force behind The Mitten Company today. We exist to not only sell high quality mittens, but to also help support brain cancer research. We hope that some day, in the near future, we'll have major breakthroughs in brain tumor diagnosis, treatment and care.

Designed For Donation

Working closely with the American Brain Tumor Association, we volunteer our time during events and donate a portion of online sales to the association. Founded in 1973, the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) was the first national advocacy organization committed to funding brain tumor research and providing information and education to patients, caregivers, and their loved ones. For 50 years, the ABTA has been providing comprehensive resources that support the complex needs of brain tumor patients and caregivers, as well as the critical funding of research in the pursuit of breakthroughs in brain tumor diagnosis, treatment and care.

Dollars Donated

Thanks to customers like you, we're able to donate a portion of our proceeds to the American Brain Tumor Association. We write one check at the end of each mitten season.

Volunteer Hours Worked

Every year, we donate some of our time to ABTA's Brain Tumor 5k race. Specifically, we help organize food and drink vendors, as well as hand out snacks to race finishers.

We also participate in ABTA's Brain Tumor 5k race! Every year, our family members and close friends take to the running paths of beautiful Como Park in St. Paul, MN.

How can you help?

This year, we've added the ability for customers to make a super simple and quick donation to the ABTA too! During checkout, you'll notice a new Donations box before typing in your credit card info. Donations are completely optional, but if you choose to donate, please know that your entire donation (yes, 100%) will be sent to the American Brain Tumor Association!
